On March 11, the people all over the globe celebrated the inaugural World Plumbing Day, established by the World Plumbing Council as a means of promoting the plumbing industry’s vital work on behalf of the planet and its people. The event brought worldwide attention to plumbing industry work protecting the public’s health and safety and promoting environmental sustainability, with IAPMO joining the cause through special promotions and an elementary school education program. IAPMO enlisted the help of school administrators and faculty in illustrating these contributions through an educational activities contest for third, fourth and fifth graders, with three student participants being chosen at random to receive a Nintendo Wii game system compliments of IAPMO. We are pleased to announce the winners: Kaylee Kirst Miss Wheaton’s Class St. Therese Academy San Diego, Calif. Morgan Mrs. Johnson’s Class Pearl Preparatory School El Monte, Calif. Taryn Linares Mr. Causey’s Class Sisson Elementary Mt. Shasta, Calif. Additionally, Subhash Despande, director of Training and Education, IAPMO-India, introduced these activity pages to grade school children in India and we are thrilled to share some of their artistic efforts here, as well. IAPMO congratulates the winners and thanks all of the children, teachers and administrators who participated and helped spread the word about all of the good work performed by those in the plumbing industry.
